MIDSOMMAR & ME

This piece is oil on unstretched canvas, inspired by my Swedish Family heritage and a film called Midsommar. The film in itself is a complex folk horror film.  It was unsettling, eye opening, and inspiring to see the protagonist go through an awakening. The film as well as this work is about beginning to uncover the truth and moving forward to bury the past.  It is about acknowledgment, growth, horrors of the past, heritage, and self discovery.
